HFA Girls Development Centre Update

Read up on the progress made so far at our flagship girls development centre

With the schools now finished for Winter, our Girls Development Centre has also broken up for the Christmas period and will return to action on Friday 12th January.

Since September the centre has held weekly sessions at Hereford Academy for girls in U12, U14 and U16 age groups after a successful trials evening. Players from every girls club in the county, plus a couple from further afield, have been in attendance which is an encouraging demonstration of the spread of talent in Herefordshire.

The girls have been working on a number of in possession and out of possession topics in recent months with their coaches and there have been noticeable improvements each week. Technical Director Jamie Pitman commented:

“We have all continued to make progress over the first block of work which has included 3 weeks of attacking, 3 weeks of defending and some elements of Transition with game based sessions to support player learning. The coaches are challenging themselves and this is having a great impact on the development of the girls at the PDC. We have all been impressed with the Development of the girls in such a short period' We will continue to progress the centre in the future blocks”

The term culminated with a night of fixtures against players from the Gloucestershire FA PDC. All the age groups performed superbly whilst putting into practice the outcomes from the previous sessions. The team coaches were delighted with their performances and we will be organising a number of additional fixtures for the girls in the New Year.

The coaches will continue to provide feedback on players in the New Year, looking towards the long term development of each player.

Thank you to our PDC partner McDonalds Hereford, for their continued sponsorship of the development centre. This valued support has enabled us to provide an improved and memorable experience for all of the girls attending. Thanks to all the coaches, parents, players and everyone who has helped with the Girls Development Centre so far.
