Ross Juniors meet their heroes on tour
The four day tour to Holland, Belgium and France was action packed and full of fun for the 111 attendees from Ross juniors FC. Day 1 was a long coach trip to Breda in Holland, the day though was finished with swimming and a BBQ.
The Ross Juniors players in good spirits, played local children from Breda in the morning in competitive but fun matches. Congratulations to Roo and Summer who both won Adidas match balls from Breda FC for their performances. Ross Juniors were joined on tour by Birmingham City Ladies Captain Kerys Harrop, who stepped forward and managed the U15’s during their games. Both an fa cup finalist captain and an England player, Kerys was more than qualified for the job in hand.
The afternoon saw build up to the match with a party atmosphere in the fan zone. A walk for 41 of the party to the stadium, where they practiced for their roles later as player escorts and flag wavers. As the game kicked off live on Channel 4, Ross Juniors accompanied both England and Spain players out of the tunnel in their newly donated kit by UEFA. An experience that will live long in the memories of the Player escorts and flag wavers. England took the spoils 2-0 on the night, on what was a fantastic evening with a real partisan atmosphere.
Following the game, the group went to stay in a Chateau in France, which they used as a base to go to Bruges, Boulogne and Etaples war cemetery. They laid wreaths for the fallen on behalf of the club. A coaches vs parents game followed by cheese and wine, brought the tour to close.
It was a great few days, lots of football, fun and to top it off on the way home, England Womens manager Mark Sampson thanked Ross personally for their support.
