Herefordshire Teams Impress in Regional Futsal Finals
13 Teams from schools and clubs across Herefordshire traveled up to Wolverhampton last weekend to represent the county in the Regional Youth Futsal Finals.
With boys and girls age groups for U10, U12, U14 and U16 the regional finals took place over two days at Wolverhampton University. All the teams had already done well in order to qualify by winning county tournaments earlier this year. Whilst seperate county qualifiers are held for club and school teams, once they reach the regional stage they are all pooled together meaning clubs and schools from Herefordshire were playing against each other, as well as teams from across the West Midlands.
Herefordshire has a proud tradition in the FA National Youth Futsal Festival having produced a number of national winning teams in the various age groups. Once again all the teams representing Herefordshire put in some superb performances over the course of the weekend. Overall 7 Herefordshire teams reached the regional finals including an all Herefordshire final in the U14 boys age group. Earl Mortimer U14 Boys and Bartestree U16 Girls both did fantastically well in order to win their regional finals and qualify for the National Youth Futsal Finals which are scheduled to take place on the 24th June.
We would like to give a big congratulations to all the teams who travelled up to Wolverhampton in order to represent the county and good luck to the two teams going on to the nationals!. To produce 7 regional finalists and 2 national finalists is a fantastic achievement as futsal continues to grow in Herefordshire.
