Herefordshire FA U18 Match Report
Herefordshire FA U18 2 - 4 Northamptonshire FA U18
Midland Counties Youth Championship
Bromyard Town FC, Delahay Meadow, 25th March 2018
The game which kicked off under a sun drenched Bromyard sky soon descended into gloomy shadow for the Herefordshire team as the visitors scored two well taken goals in the opening minutes through Jessie Obeng and Sam Adams.
The Home team soon recovered their equilibrium and play become more even. Herefordshire then produced a highlight of the game when a glorious right wing cross from Adam Hockey was powerfully headed home by Brandon Jennings to give his team hope. On 30 minutes they were right back in the game when Adam Hockey equalised.
Their courageous comeback had a cruel setback which caught the home goalkeeper off guard and finished in the net.
The second half had another dramatic beginning when substitute Connor I'Anson who was to give a lively display, added a fourth Northamptonshire goal.
Both teams gave plenty of effort but the ball was too often given away after good approach play. The game finished with two highlights; a dazzling run by the visitors Jessie Obeng who beat a series of defenders before rolling his shot just wide, then, at the end, the home goalkeeper Oliver Meadows finger tipped a fierce shot onto the bar and safety.
