Registrations open for new Wildcats Girls Football Centres
Herefordshire FA are now looking for new delivery partners to join over 1000 Wildcats Girls’ Football Centres and help inspire more girls to play football!
The FA have developed Wildcats as an initiative designed to inspire girls aged between 5-11 to be involved in football. The centres provide girls with regular opportunities to play football and take part in organised sessions in a fun, safe and engaging environment. In 2019 Herefordshire hosted 6 centres and over the past 3 years more than 350 girls in Herefordshire have been introduced to football through Wildcats. We are now looking for even more organisations to take part and support our mission to double girls’ participation by the end of 2020.
Wildcats offers girls aged 5-11 weekly sessions giving them a chance to have fun, make friends and play football under the guidance of FA qualified coaches. The scheme is aimed at beginner girls, and is designed to help develop a lifelong love of sport.
Wildcats Girls’ Football Centres are run in conjunction with Herefordshire FA and all new centres will receive support throughout the application process and their delivery. This includes
- £900 start up fund
- Kit, equipment and resources
- Staff training
- National (and local) marketing and promotion
- Centre Support
- Money can’t buy experiences
Joe Mathias, Herefordshire FA Football Development Officer commented “The Wildcats programme has gone from strength to strength and it has had a massive impact on the number of girls getting into football locally. We want to make sure girls have the chance to play football no matter where they are based so are looking to bring Wildcats to areas that may have limited opportunities for girls to get involved in sport.
