Still Got What It Takes? Prove it in the HFA Veterans League
Our ever popular summer Vets League is returning this May and after a hugely successful year in 2019, we are looking to expand! The Herefordshire FA Veterans League will offer competitive 11v11 football for players aged 35 and over with some subtle tweaks to ensure the league fits around every day life.
Played in a fun, social environment the league offers the ideal opportunity for veteran players to get back into or continue playing football outside of the commitment of regular adult football. Teams will play each other twice over the course of the season with the winning team taking home the Herefordshire FA Veterans League Trophy.
The league utilises a central venue and staggered kick off times on Sundays as well as optional midweek fixtures to give teams more choice on when the play. This flexible format allows the league to fit alongside any other commitments and, with Herefordshire FA organising fixtures, referees and facilities, the administration burden is minimal and all teams need to do is turn up and play. Matches are reduced to 80 minutes long, and with rolling substitutions there is plenty of time to catch your breath back if needed!
Last season 6 teams competed with Civil Service FC Vets narrowly pipping Hinton to the title by a solitary point and going on to lift the League Shield for the third season in a row.
Joe Mathias, Herefordshire FA Football Development Officer commented "The HFA Veterans League has gone from strength to strength each summer and last season was the most competitive yet. There is a real opportunity to grow the league further this year and we would actively encourage any teams or individuals who want to get involved this summer to get in touch."
