The FA Lidl Skills
Giving every child the opportunity to be the best that they can be
The FA Lidl Skills is a unique football coaching programme that gives 5-11s of all abilities the opportunity to get active, learn new football skills and enjoy the game. We’ve been providing high quality football coaching courses for children since 2007 and have to date provided over 8 million child places on the programme, aiming to provide 1.2 million coaching opportunities per year.
The FA Lidl Skills is a nationwide initiative run by The Football Association and funded by Sport England. We provide after-school football coaching, holiday football coaching, support for charter standard football clubs and we also work within primary schools providing specialist football coaching. Our aim is to develop better and more technically gifted football players but also to give every child the opportunity to be the best that they can be.
The FA Lidl Skills is based on a unique FA coaching model that helps boys and girls of all abilities to grow, develop their skills and to reach their potential. The FA four corner model encompasses four key attributes that are vital for any developing young footballer: Physical, Technical, Psychological and Social elements, helping children to develop more than just their football skills – we’ll help them to gain confidence, build self-esteem, learn to work as team and improve their decision making.
Your child can take part in The FA Lidl Skills programme through their primary school or by signing up to take part in our regular after school Skills Centres and holiday football coaching sessions. Find your nearest FA Lidl Skills session now.
The FA Lidl Skills programme works in over 2000 primary schools each year providing AfPE approved PE lessons which not only support the development of Primary School Teachers but also ensure that the children are engaged in sessions that meet the requirements of the PE National Curriculum, with additional opportunities to take part in sessions at lunch time and after school. In addition during the five half-term holidays our FA qualified coaches provide FA Lidl Skills sessions up and down the country, perfect for children who want to develop their football ability and also if they just want to have some fun during the holidays.
FA Lidl Skills is structured in a way to make it accessible for all. Whether this is your child’s first step in to football, or an opportunity to add to their growing football experience, The FA Lidl Skills programme can include, support and challenge any 5 - 11 year old who wants to be involved.
FA Lidl Skills delivers high quality football coaching for 5 - 11 year olds and strives to achieve this by creating learning environments that are safe & inclusive and coaching sessions that are simple, game related and enjoyable. Above all else The FA Lidl Skills programme puts the child at the heart of the learning process, in a way that is engaging and fun.
We work hard to give every child who takes part the opportunity to be the best that they can be. Based on a unique FA coaching model, FA Lidl Skills provides a chance for children to:
· Learn new skills socially; working in groups, discussing ideas with their teammates and their coach.
· Challenge physically; fundamental movements.
· Strive technically; learn new football skills and apply them in games.
· Heighten decision making; selecting the best skill or strategy for the situation.
