How did you feel when you heard about winning the Grassroots Award for 2024?

I was absolutely buzzing when I heard I had won the grass route award. Didn’t expect it as there is some great groundsman in Herefordshire! But I am glad others have noticed my pitch and liked it. 

What is your favourite thing about your role within local football in Herefordshire?

My favourite thing I’ve found in local football is the ‘family’ feeling. Everyone at their clubs treats it as their own and all work together to get things done. At Westfields we win together and all lose together.

What are your aspirations for local football in Herefordshire?

My aspiration is to try and provide my club with the best possible pitch I can, which I hope can lead to better performances. Everyone does there own little but to try help push the team/club forward

What encouraging words would you have for anyone wanting to get involved with local football?

As I mentioned earlier, local grassroots football is more of a family than just a club. It’s great to spend time with likeminded people who are all doing their best for the club and to help propel the club forward.
